Cortisone Injections

Cortisone shots are injections containing a corticosteroid and a local anaesthetic that can help relieve pain and inflammation.  They’re most commonly injected into joints in your body and sometimes near tendons to help relieve pain and inflammation. The effects are often temporary, but can often be used to decrease pain flareups, decrease pain to participate in a rehabilitation program and address the cause of the inflammation.

Cortisone injections can lead to significant improvements in pain and inflammation but come risks and side effects that can vary depending on your condition and the location of the injection. The risks and the benefits related to your injury are best discussed with your doctor.
